Job Summary:

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Corporate Operations team. The ideal candidate should be tech-savvy, communicate effectively in writing, and support a paperless environment. This role involves managing and developing employees, maintaining and updating core accounting processes, and authoring new procedures as needed.

The candidate must be professional, process-focused, and passionate about delivering accurate results. This position involves leading by example and working closely with the team. It includes overseeing three Accounting Coordinators responsible for invoicing, AP, AR, and account reconciliation. Attention to detail and adherence to company procedures are essential.

The Accounting Manager will report to the Corporate Controller to ensure compliance with established systems and processes.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage the Accounting team email, sorting incoming tasks into each Coordinator’s subfolders according to their respective responsibilities.
  • Address daily inquiries from Coordinators and resolve departmental issues and exceptions with guidance from the Controller and COO as necessary.
  • Audit and review entries or spreadsheets for accuracy, as requested by the CEO, COO (Special Projects), or Controller.
  • Audit process sheets and transactions to ensure compliance, as required by the Controller or COO.
  • Initially learn and subsequently oversee all documented processes within the Accounting team.
  • Develop process sheets for new tasks or projects.
  • Enforce current accounting processes and implement minor edits when necessary.
  • Manage, train, evaluate, and develop a remote team consisting of 3 full-time accounting coordinators (individuals with finance or accounting degrees); recruit and expand the team as business needs grow.
  • Handle accounts payable and some accounts receivable processing for multiple companies (including new construction homes, general contracting, rentals, and land development).
  • Retrieve bank statements and reports for end-of-month processing (pull statements and reports for CFO).
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Maintain vendor relations and provide internal customer service (primarily via email) related to accounting inquiries.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • A minimum of 2 years of management experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in banking, finance, or accounting.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Proficient with technology and able to excel in a paperless environment.
  • Self-aware and emotionally intelligent with strong interpersonal skills to support HPF’s innovative and positive culture
 
Salary Description
$70,000-$85,000
